Their anti-war passion was just a veneer, a facade. They were anti-Bush.
And their silence in the past 4 years is deafening…
Bingo!
Almost every Saturday (barring truly cold weather) from the US invasion of Iraq to the election of Barack Obama there was a crowd gathered on the four corners of a major interception near our state university, waving signs and shouting slogans, in opposition to what they termed an illegal and immoral war. Then Barack Obama became president and there hasn’t been a single such gathering since. This being a fairly small town, I recognize some of the participants and I’ve asked them why they aren’t still there. Well, this president feels badly about the war and is trying to end it so he doesn’t need protesters to encourage him.
Sigh! Really … it takes 4 1/2 years to end a war when you really want to do it????
Perhaps Republicans should ‘feel badly’ for these things. It seems that’s all it takes.
Wait.
That’s not it.
It’s the ideology, plain and simple. They hate this country.
