To do list:
Shop for gifts, bake more cookies, fruit cake and make candy, finish the tree (outside decorations are up. Clean.
I’m stuck at home for 2 days while the car is in the shop. That’s good. It gives me direction. And time to complete what I need to complete here for this holiday. I can finish my shopping later and all will be finished at home.
The holidays can be hectic, anxiety provoking; sometimes depressing. I need to be remembering the love sent to us 2000 years ago instead and look to God for peace.
- I’ve been reminded that my morning time with my God in prayer and reading Scripture is more important than all of these things I do for Christmas. “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
(John 15:4 NIV)
- If I remain in Him, He gives the fruit I need in this life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
(Galatians 5:22–25 NIV)
