In 2011, the American Spectator declared concerning research published in the International Bulletin of Missionary Research:

“The report estimates about 80,000 new Christians every day, 79,000 new Muslims every day, and 300 fewer atheists every day. These atheists are presumably disproportionately represented in the West, while religion is thriving in the Global South, where charismatic Christianity is exploding.”

In 2009, the book A Skeptics Guide to Atheism indicated:

“A worldwide poll taken in 1991 put the global figure for atheists at just 4.4% of the population. By 2006 it was estimated that only 2% of the world population were atheists.”

Looks like the atheist movement is devolving. Evolution is not being kind to them.

Right, it would seem like they were gaining. I guess that is what surprised me.

Though there is a fly in the ointment, I think. When they count Christians I’m not sure exactly what they are counting? You know what I mean. Practicing Christians vs a label. That always bugs me. And behold, the atheists normally are the first to point that out. So statistics could be a little off to reality.

That is a really good thought, Froggy.

This is the only article I can find for now. But there have been more than afew.
Christianity is hugely growing where people are oppressed. In privileged areas we have not ‘taken the Gospel’ as we should and people feel they can do it all on their own. No need for God. 😦

I also agree with your that their are Christians and there are christians.
Many say they are because they think they are but do not practice their faith. I think there is a huge difference.
