I just spent an hour on the phone with the attorney who is working with me on my Mom’s estate.
I haven’t cried for several weeks. But I’m tearful now.
It’s a privilege to care for the things of this world that were once possessions of my mom and my dad. An honor and a privilege. But it reminds me again of the finality of their passing and I miss them terribly all over again.
Remember to tell your mom and dad, or your husband or wife, children, grandchildren, grandparents and friends that you love them. And act like it. Give them the benefit of the doubt every time you feel anger at any of these. Do nice things for them and share of yourself with them. Keep in touch; call them and tell them you are thinking of them. And most of all pray for them.
When they are gone, it’s too late. And all that is left on this earth, besides your memories, is the ‘stuff’ they owned on this earth.

Amen! Personally, I don’t see a thing wrong with crying. You feel things deeply and maybe that’s how you express yourself. Clearly you are mature in the Lord (more than yours truly, I might add) and it would seem to me, that’s what counts.

Bless you for such kind words. But the crying thing feels like a problem. Christian maturity? i wish! Mature but one of the least mature in our Lord. I spent almost a lifetime without a thought of God. He pulled me back to himself so quickly when I began to try to find out if there really was a god. It was an absolute miracle. God is so good. And right on time!

And, tannngl, that’s one of the hallmarks of maturity in the Lord, IMHO. You know where your weaknesses are. And not to burst your bubble, but I don’t say things to be kind. I say them because I believe them. 🙂
